SOME CALIFORNIANS EMERGE FROM ENERGY CRISIS Fresno, CA - (IGN) - Stunned but happy to be rescued, seven Californians emerged yesterday from the energy crisis scratched, heavily in debt, but otherwise unharmed. "We're just thankful, but the others..." said Tiffany Wattswild, her voice trailing off with a mixture of relief and anxiety. Rescuers labored for weeks, night and day, trying to pull people from the seemingly endless maze of the crisis. "We were told there was a light at the end of the tunnel," said Harry Capacitor, "but we couldn't find it." "There's a tunnel at the end of the tunnel," muttered Russ Baker, one of the rescue workers. FEMA Director Ollie North looked glum at the prospects of rescuing more people. "If only it had been a terrorist bomb or an earthquake. We just weren't prepared for this," he said. |
