IRAQ CALLS FOR U.N. INSPECTION OF U.S.; "IT'S TIME TO FIND THE ANTHRAX!" Baghdad, Iraq - (GIN) - Iraqi Dictator Saddam Hussein called upon the U.N. to send weapons inspectors to the United States to search for Anthrax. "The anthrax that killed the Americans, sent with letters, that was American anthrax made in the U.S.A.," Hussein said. Hussein suggested the source of the anthrax and the perpetrator of the crimes had not been found either because it was all a C.I.A. plot, or because American authorities were "not looking hard enough". "Besides, why should we trust the Americans? The U.N. should do this," Hussein said. U.N. officials said they would have to consider the suggestion, although they thought the U.S. would veto the idea. "It does make you think, though," said one. |
