CLEAN AIR REFORMS THREATEN LAWSUITS TO MAINTAIN CLEAN AIR Administration Tired Of Money Going To Lawyers Washington, D.C. - (GNS) - Declaring that "this administration is tired of all the money going to the lawyers," Secretary of the Inferior Gale "Hurricane" Norton defended reforms she has proposed that would end Federal lawsuits against polluting power plants and put the burden on resource-pressed states to pursue litigation "if that's what they really want to do." Responding to a New York Times news article outlining how the administration's plans to gut the Clean Air Act would hamper states from protecting the air, Norton, furious, attacked the liberal media and lawyers. "I suppose you want the Federal government to sue polluting industries? I suppose you think it's my job to protect the environment in each and every state?" she asked. "My job, unless you've forgotten, is to secure my post-administration employment in a high-level position in industry," Norton explained, "where I came from." "Your job," she continued, "is to report the news and not to take sides with all the people who like clean air and lawyers." |
