CHENEY FIGHTS G.A.O. REQUEST FOR RECORDS OF SECRET MEETING Washingon D.C. - (GNS) - Vice President Cheney rejected a request from the Government Accounting Office seeking records of the secret meetings he had with energy industry executives to draft the national energy policy. "Nyah, nyah, nyah, you can't have it," Cheney said. G.A.O. Chief Administrator Woodward Bernstein said the American public had every right to know who was at the meetings and exactly what was discussed. "You better tell us," Bernstein said. "I don't have to, I'm the Pres-- Vice President," Cheney said. "You do too have to," Bernstein said. "Go away!" Cheney said. "No," Bernstein said. "If you keep after me, I'll have another heart attack," Cheney said. "I'm tellin'," Bernstein said. Analysts suspect Cheney does not want to turn over the list because he could get in trouble with the American people and lose all the points he's made with his heart attack and surgery. "If Cheney shows that list people will see how deep he is into those guys," said one energy broker who requested anonymity. Flight attendant Anne Marie Smith told reporters that Cheney once told her he was trying to quit his addiction to "those money guys" but said the pull was too strong. "But I didn't sleep with him," she said in an appearance on the Dinner & A Movie Show on TBS. "I don't sleep with married men with heart trouble," she said. |
