BUSH VISITS TROOPS It Reminds Him Of His Day In The Texas Guard Kosovo, Yugoslavia - (GIN) - President Bush visited the troops for the first time as president, noted that their camouflage uniforms failed to hide them from his view, and recalled his day as a soldier. "I remember the day I was in the Texas Air National Guard," Bush told the troops. "We were there, like you are here, to keep the peace. And we did. Texas is peaceful. Kosovo is peaceful. Genoa was not peaceful. Those other G8 countries, and those one hundred and eighty countries with their Kyoto Accords, they don't like me. But you like me, don't you? Here, I'm signing this to give you a pay raise." During his visit, Bush joked with the troops and correctly identified the American flag. Bush polled the troops on how they felt about embryos and stem cell research in his efforts to hear from everyone before making a decision. And he urged the troops to "do what you can to stop the rebels from interferring with the flow of Macadamia nuts from where it's strife-torn, torn with strife, in Macadamia, next door." Bush told the troops when he campaigned that he didn't think they belonged here, "but that was just campaign rhetoric. We have a job to do," he said. He polled the troops on how they felt about "Mission Creep". "We're here to fight against global warming. Let the other nations talk. We put our troops where our mouth is," he said. |
